Yay, here is another manga I purchased because of the cover. Why? Well OK, I agree, this girl has the freakiest looking eyes! She looks like she is wired on something :) But I really liked her outfit, and the coloring and detail, I figured I'd give this one a try. Also, the back cover of the manga has the 4 main characters in SD form. That picture looked too cute to pass up :) This is the first manga by Aqua MIZUTO that I have purchased, but I am glad I did. The artwork inside is very nice! The only thing I wonder about is the design of the school uniforms everyone wears. They are very... creative :) They remind me a bit of the uniforms from Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. This is the first volume of this series. Apparently it was first printed on July 30th of 1999, so it will probably be a while until volume 2 comes out. But I will try to get it when it does :) Anyway, I found the artwork to be cute, and the story is pretty interesting!

The volume opens with a minor event- 14 year-old jr. high school girl Tomoe is walking home from school when her long hair gets snagged on the button of someone walking near her. It's the handsome (and apparently infamous) Kouga-kun. According to Tomoe's friends, Kouga-kun is involved with the Yakuza (like a Japanese Mafia) and is in fact called the 'Nidaime' or the 2nd generation, which is like the 2nd generation leader of a particular Yakuza group. It's somewhat hard to explain, but you see a similar thing in the manga Tokyo Crazy Paradise in which the leader of the Yakuza group in that is called 'sandaime' or 3rd generation. It's like a respectful title. Anyway, Tomoe's hair gets caught on his button, and instead of untangling it, he tears off the button and gives it to her. Tomoe for some reason really likes this and puts the button on a chain around her neck like a pendant. Things don't go very well for Tomoe, however. She soon discovers that her family (2 parents and older sister) have been killed in an auto accident. Now left completely alone, Tomoe doesn't know what to do. She is then horrified to discover that her family was deeply in debt to the Yakuza, and through a chain of events, some finance group ends up selling Tomoe to the Yakuza, to work in this place that is apparently like a house of prostitution! ACK! Needless to say, Tomoe doesn't like this idea, but has no choice when she is drugged and wakes up to find herself right in the middle of one of those houses of ill repute! Tomoe is scared when she learns she will be making her 'debut' there! She tries to run away, but gets lost. Fortunately someone is there to help her... or is he? Yes, Kouga-kun is connected to Tomoe's present situation. But does he mean to be the one to force her into this seedy lifestyle? Or is he there to help her? Ahh the drama ^^ Actually, this series is fairly funny ^^ There are a lot of characters that turn SD, and a lot of cute artwork ^^
