Incest

This is manga where there is either real or fake incest. Fortunately, there isn’t a whole lot of actual incest in shoujo manga. Usually the couple thinks they are related, but it turns out they are not. Or only one member of the couple knows they are not blood-related after all. Or the pair has been raised as siblings, and they both find out the truth at the same time. I am also including in this section stories where the couple are step-siblings.

  • Ai Hime ~ Ai to Himegoto, by MITSUKI Kaco Ai Hime - Ai to Himegoto, by MITSUKI Kaco Title: Ai Hime ~ Ai to Himegoto (Love Princess ~ Love and Secret) Author: MITSUKI Kaco ISBN# 4-09-130563-6 Flower Comics, 2006 I admit, I originally bought the first two volumes of this series completely at random because it was on sale :) What can I say, I can’t resist cheap manga! However, I am happy I picked it up, because it is just the sort of fun, cheezy shoujo manga story that I like :) This is a ‘forbidden love’ kind of series, with ...
  • Aniki wa Tsunayoshi!, by HAYASHIDA Chihiro Aniki wa Tsunayoshi!, by HAYASHIDA Chihiro Title: Aniki wa Tsunayoshi! Author: HAYASHIDA Chihiro ISBN# 4-06-365281-5 KC Dessert Comics 2004 I picked both volumes of this 2-volume series together because they, were, ahem, on sale :) I admit, I can never resist cheap manga! I wasn’t sure what kind of series this would be. I actually had the impression that this would be some sort of school gang or yakuza type of thing, considering the scary-looking guy on the cover of volume 1. The girl on the cover of volume 2 ...
  • Hidari Te no Love Letter, by CHIBA Kozue Hidari Te no Love Letter, by CHIBA Kozue Title: Hidari Te no Love Letter (Left Hand Love Letter) Author: CHIBA Kozue ISBN# 978-4-09-132298-2 Flower Comics, 2009 This is such an adorable book! I was attracted by the cover, as usual. In this case, the lead character’s direct stare and glasses made it stand out amidst all the happy shoujo couples that are on most other covers. I like how she is sort of hunched over her desk, as if she is letting us in on a secret. Also, I don’t think there ...
  • Oniisamakata, Goranshin!, by YAMAOKA Mariko Oniisamakata, Goranshin!, by YAMAOKA Mariko Title: Oniisamakata, Goranshin! Author: YAMAOKA Mariko ISBN# 978-4-09-132653-9 Flower Comics 2009 It was the combination of the cover art and title that drew me to this series. I like the irritated look on the girl’s face, and the mischievous look on the guy’s face. I also thought it was cute that he holds a bouquet of flowers. The title of the book indicated that this may have something to do with some older brothers, and, I admit, that this type of story is another ...
  • Sonnan Janeeyo, by IZUMI Kaneyoshi Sonnan Janeeyo, by IZUMI Kaneyoshi Title: Sonnan Janeeyo Author: IZUMI Kaneyoshi ISBN# 4-09-137275-9 Flower Comics, 2003 Enough of the one-shot volumes or short series. Here is one that is a bit longer for those of you who like series that span many volumes. I actually don’t own all of this series yet (I’m working on it…) but I like what I have read so far well enough, so here I am recommending it to y’all. This series is a good 9 volumes long. Here we have a love triangle, ...
  • Usotsuki na Gemini, by MIYAWAKI Yukino Usotsuki na Gemini, by MIYAWAKI Yukino Title: Usotsuki na Gemini (The Gemini Which Is A Liar) Author: MIYAWAKI Yukino ISBN# 978-4-09-131535-9 ChuChu Comics, 2008 Ah! Here is one of those series that follows the shoujo manga plot device that I call “Whew! We’re Not related after all!” (or ARE they?!) I bought this because of the cover, which is very cute, and because the title makes it somewhat obvious what it’s about. Now come on, this series ran in ChuChu, which is a magazine aimed at younger kids (Not quite as ...
